GE Digital and BearingPoint Join Forces to Accelerate the Industrial Internet

The cooperation aims to help companies creating business cases for digital services based on Industry 4.0 and Industrial IoT technology

AMSTERDAM & SAN RAMON, Calif. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — August 24, 2016 — Management and technology consultancy BearingPoint and GE Digital announced today that they have joined forces to help companies develop new digital service offerings by utilizing the Industrial Internet of Things (IoT) and Industry 4.0. The companies will focus on creating solid business cases by integrating smart services into the enterprise value chain. GE’s experience with industrial data and analytics combined with BearingPoint’s industry expertise in value chain processes and enterprise PLM-, CRM- and ERP-systems enables companies to provide new digital service offerings to their clients.

Denzil Samuels, Head of Global Channels and Alliances, GE Digital, said: “BearingPoint’s unique mix of management and technology consulting and deep knowledge of ERP systems and the value chain make them a valuable part of the GE Digital Alliance program. Their Industry 4.0/IoT lab will help us develop solid business cases and enable our customers to harness the power of the Industrial Internet. This partnership will build growth and aid digital transformation for industrial companies.”

Donald Wachs, Partner and leader of the Manufacturing segment at BearingPoint, said: “GE Digital is one of the most important platform providers in the Industrial Internet space. Together we will show how smart products enable smart services through the integration in business processes and the use of machine learning.”

Against this background, both companies will integrate GE’s Predix, a cloud-based operating system for the Industrial Internet, to business processes primarily managed by PLM, CRM and ERP systems, allowing sensor data to be shared for new business cases in areas such as customer service and new business offerings. This also provides software, apps and analytics that enable industrial businesses to operate faster, smarter and more efficiently.

Together with BearingPoint’s Smart Factory Model, which was developed in the company’s IoT lab in Berlin, the two companies make clients experience Industry 4.0: machines communicating and sharing information. In addition, prototypes that use IoT technology can be developed and complete solutions can be implemented.
