nanoCAD Pro Powers Parametrics With Bricsys LGS

Nanosoft, a leading Russian CAD developer, has licensed the LGS 2D constraint solver from Bricsys. The company used the technology to implement 2D parametrics in it latest release of nanoCAD Pro 7 for computer-aided design.

Aug 8, 2016 -- The LGS 2D and 3D component technologies are developed by Bricsys Technologies Russia, a fully owned subsidiary of Bricsys. The technology is available for integration by CAD/ CAM/CAE developers into their software. It is embedded in Bricsys’s own BricsCAD design software, where it is used for functions in 2D parametric drafting, 3D direct modeling, assemblies, sheet metal design, and most recently BIM.

History-based modeling

Nanosoft licensed LGS 2D from Bricsys to implement 2D geometric and dimensional constraints in its nanoCAD Pro software. To shorten the software development cycle, Nanosoft leveraged LGS 2D’s existing integration with Teigha, the software development platform for engineering applications from the Open Design Alliance. Nanosoft and Bricsys are members of the Open Design Alliance, which guarantees 100% compatibility with the .dwg le format.

“We thoroughly analyzed several technology components for solving constraints available on the market,” said Dmitry Popov, deputy director general of product management at Nanosoft. “As a result of the analysis, we selected LGS 2D from Bricsys. We found that it is the best solution
for us, because LGS 2D solver implements all of the functions needed by nanoCAD Pro users. Besides this,
Bricsys provides license conditions bene cial to us, and development and technical support of LGS is done by Russian software engineers, which is important for us.”

“History-based modeling, as implemented in nanoCAD Pro, assumes that parametric sketches serve the basis of all 3D solid bodies,” said Dmitry Ushakov, CEO of Bricsys Technologies Russia. “Thus a 2D constraint solver plays an important role in parametric solid modeling. We are happy to provide our many years of experience to nanoCAD Pro users.”

About LGS Component Technology

Bricsys LGS 2D and 3D constraint solvers are state-of- the art computational engines. They are designed for developers to implement advanced parametric functions in their engineering applications. Users of these applications then design e ciently with geometric and dimensional constraints. Constraints are solved simultaneously, forcing changes in geometry according to design intent.

Bricsys LGS 2D and 3D solvers are available as binary libraries for 32- and 64-bit Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux platforms. The C-based API (application programming interface) easily integrates LGS 2D/3D into applications written with C, C++, C#, Java, and other programming languages. Members of Open Design Alliance can license a version of LGS 2D that is already integrated with the Teigha platform.
