Stevenage, July 21, 2016 – Halton Borough Council has decided to migrate its intranet mapping GIS to products provided by the British software developer, Cadcorp.
Following an announcement that support for its existing intranet GIS products was to be withdrawn, Halton Borough Council (HBC) approached the market to find a new technology set. Early in 2016, HBC issued a comprehensive Request for Quotation to which Cadcorp and other vendors responded. After a thorough evaluation process, Cadcorp was selected to provide a replacement system.
Cadcorp will supply its Web Map Layers web mapping application together with various supporting software, training and associated services. The application will be deployed on HBC’s virtualised infrastructure.
Central to HBC’s decision to select Cadcorp was the ability of the technology to integrate with the council’s existing desktop GIS and SQL Server based back office data. Web Map Layers will be used to extend the reach and range of data deployed within the Council.
Gary Randle, UK sales manager at Cadcorp commented “We are very pleased that Halton Borough Council has made the decision to base its intranet GIS on our technology. We look forward to working closely with them and integrating Web Map Layers into their organisation.”
