NIBS: Academy for Healthcare Infrastructure Calls for Presenters at 2017 Forum

Theme to Focus on Creating a High-Performing Environment for Healthcare

Jun 1, 2016 -- The National Institute of Building Sciences Academy for Healthcare Infrastructure (AHI) is beginning to prepare its program for the 2017 AHI Forum, to be held Wednesday, January 11, 2017, as part of Building Innovation 2017: The National Institute of Building Sciences Fifth Annual Conference and Expo at the Mandarin Oriental in Washington, D.C. Building on the overall Conference theme, the Forum theme is Creating a High-Performing Environment for Healthcare.

The Academy is reaching out to healthcare facilities professionals and other members of the building and healthcare industries to invite industry experts to present during the one-day AHI Forum. Industry leaders with valuable insights, case studies, best practices, lessons learned and/or remaining challenges are encouraged to share their knowledge and experiences with the broader audience of healthcare facility industry stakeholders.

Abstracts will be reviewed by the Academy’s Executive Committee, which includes: Frank Aucremanne, Cleveland Clinic; John Becker, U.S. Department of Defense, Defense Health Agency; Stella Fiotes, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs; Walter Jones, MetroHealth; Jeff Land, Dignity; Bob McCoole, Ascension; Bob Mitsch, Sutter Health; Spencer Moore, MD Anderson; Don Orndoff, Kaiser Permaente; Judy Quasney, National Institutes of Health; Sid Sanders, Methodist Houston; and Skip Smith, Catholic Health Initiatives.

The Executive Committee is particularly interested in presentations that will describe results from actual project outcomes. In addition, abstracts that touch on challenges affecting both healthcare facilities and the broader building industry, such as the use of building-related information resources and technologies; incorporation of off-site construction methods; improvements in facility performance and sustainability; and solutions that address security and disaster preparedness are potential topics for consideration.

Presentations should be 30 minutes in length with an additional 10 minutes for Q&A. Promotional presentations on products or services will not be considered.

If you have a relevant session you would like to present at the AHI Forum, submit a 200-word abstract during this open call for speakers. Abstracts are due by June 30, 2016, and should be submitted along with a 150-word biography.

Speakers will receive a complimentary registration to attend the day of the AHI forum or a 50% discount on a full-conference registration to attend additional days. For more information on Building Innovation 2017, visit www.nibs.org/Conference2017.

Be there to present where Science meets Design. Submit your AHI abstract via the online form by June 30, 2016.
