Trimble Introduces New RFID Reader Module to Meet Radio Frequency Requirements for Japan, Israel and China

ORLANDO, Fla., May 3, 2016 — (PRNewswire) — Trimble (NASDAQ: TRMB) introduced today a new UHF RFID reader module supporting Radio Frequency (RF) requirements for Japan, Israel and China—the ThingMagic® M6e-JIC module.

The announcement was made at RFID Journal Live 2016.

The M6e-JIC module, based on the industry-leading M6e module, is a small 1 Watt, 4-port UHF RFID reader module that delivers leading performance and significant time-to-market advantages to original equipment manufacturers (OEM), value added resellers (VAR) and solution providers looking to add RFID to existing product lines or designing and building new solutions from the ground up. The reader module includes the RF circuit design and the protocol support for EPC Global Gen 2V2 ISO 18000-63 standards. The module reads up to 750 tags per second at distances over 9 meters (30 feet) when configured with appropriate antennas.

"The M6e-JIC builds on the leading performance users have experienced from ThingMagic," said Brett Humphrys, general manager of Trimble's ThingMagic Division. "The module's extensive feature set, small size and performance provide developers more latitude when creating high-performance RFID-enabled solutions. A growing number of companies are looking to incorporate RFID into their products and solutions; the M6e-JIC can make this possible by supporting the RF requirements in more geographic areas."

The ThingMagic embedded RFID modules have been integrated into solutions across several markets including automotive, healthcare, industrial automation, manufacturing, and retail. Expanding this broad industry and application support, the M6e-JIC is designed to the standards of full size RFID readers, but is small and efficient enough to be used in a wide variety of mobile applications.

Availability

The M6e-JIC UHF RFID module is expected to be available in June 2016 through Trimble's Technology Sales Group ( http://www.trimble.com/tsg/) and the Technology Sales Group's network of channel partners worldwide.
