Creaform’s new version of VXinspect delivers unprecedented integration with its 3D scanners and portable probing system for faster part measurement

This latest release of Creaform’s dimensional inspection software also offers advanced functionalities for efficient and accurate first article inspection and quality control workflows in shop floor conditions.

Lévis, Québec, April  26, 2016 -  Creaform, the worldwide leader in  portable 3D measurement solutions and engineering services, has just announced the latest release of VXinspect, its powerful and intuitive dimensional inspection software for manufacturing companies that conduct first article inspection and quality control—right on the production line or shop floor.

Launched in parallel with the brand-new and completely redesigned  MetraSCAN 3D optical CMM scanner and HandyPROBE Next arm-free portable CMM, VXinspect’s 3D inspection software upgrade not only ensures tighter integration with Creaform’s hardware for a complete, end-to-end inspection solution but also offers unprecedented ease of use regardless of operator skills and training. HandySCAN 3D also seamlessly integrates with VXinspect.

Some of VXinspect’s latest new features include:

  • Smart Control: Thanks to the new multi-function buttons on the MetraSCAN 3D and HandyPROBE Next, users can now directly interact with VXinspect—right from their devices! With VXinspect, building and following through on inspection programs has never been easier and faster, helping operators slash measurement times and eliminating unnecessary back-and-forth trips from the part to the computer.
  • Optical automatic alignment: Sophisticated optical alignment facilitates the setup and positioning of a part with Creaform’s C-Track optical tracker, available with both the HandyPROBE Next and MetraSCAN 3D. Users can now better visualize CAD models within the system’s measurement volume.
  • Easy color mapping: With single-click color mapping, VXinspect simplifies and accelerates the color-mapping process so that users can quickly identify faults and deviations on a part before production starts.
  • Boundary inspection improvements: VXinspect not only now features improved accuracy with respect to boundaries but also supports sheet metal workflows.

VXinspect users can also benefit from new alignment methods and other workflow enhancements.

“Creaform’s latest  VXinspect software release is solid proof of our commitment to what we callTRUsimplicity,” explained Jérôme-Alexandre Lavoie, Product Manager at Creaform. “With our tripod approach of fully integrating VXinspect with the MetraSCAN 3D and HandyPROBE Next systems, we are offering users the perfect combination between highly accurate results in shop floor conditions, unmatched performance and efficiency, and an effortless measurement process. By bridging together physical and virtual realms in manufacturing, inspection and quality control has never been this easy.”
