Boothroyd Dewhurst to Host 2016 International Forum on Design for Manufacture and Assembly June 7-8 in Providence, RI, USA
WAKEFIELD, R.I., USA, April 26, 2016—Boothroyd Dewhurst Inc. will host the thirty-first annual International Forum on Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA®) on June 7-8, 2016, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Providence-Warwick, RI, USA. This year’s conference theme is “DFMA Design Decision: Understanding Total Product Cost.”
Presenters at the Forum will discuss how making the right design decisions early in development can have a substantial impact on total product cost. The use of DFMA to help choose the right structures, materials, processes and labor has become critical given that companies get few second chances in today’s global markets. Additionally, the benefits of improved reliability and time-to-market that come with DFMA will be addressed by various speakers.
“Manufacturers today are striving to tighten their supply chains and move closer to key markets,” said John Gilligan, president of Boothroyd Dewhurst, Inc. “They are also taking a hard look at whether or not their product designs help them downstream with demand fulfilment and throughput. The right designs should reach customers quickly with the high quality and performance characteristics they need. The DFMA Forum is where people learn about what tools and strategies succeed in meeting these goals and in optimizing total product cost.”
Speakers will include Boeing, Medtronic, Kohler, Dynisco and Woodward. Nick Dewhurst, executive vice president of Boothroyd Dewhurst, Inc., together with David Meeker and Chris Tsai, will focus on the “DFMA Design Decision” theme of this year’s conference.
About the DFMA Forum
The Forum is the foremost conference worldwide on DFMA methodologies and software. DFMA helps structure a team’s knowledge and guide collaboration efforts from the concept stage onward to create feature-rich products at less cost. It does this by providing comparative “should cost” estimates for manufacturing processes and materials, and by targeting opportunities for product simplification.
The Forum offers insights and solutions to managers, financial decision-makers, design engineers, manufacturing engineers, purchasing personnel, and supply-chain experts interested in benefitting from up-front product development.
