Timmons Group Develops ArcGIS Online Applications and Collector for City of Fayetteville

Feb 10, 2016 -- The City of Fayetteville, North Carolina, contracted with Timmons Group to develop and implement ArcGIS Online priority applications to provide citizens with increased access and awareness to the City’s Fire and Transit systems. To manage the City’s signs and stormwater assets, Timmons Group additionally provided Collector for ArcGIS application allowing employees the ability to update and maintain data in the field.

With Collector, the City of Fayetteville employees can use a smartphone or tablet in the field to collect or edit City assets. Employees locate assets and input attribute information, as well as maintenance information.

In addition to improving field data collection processes, Timmons Group created two priority applications for the City’s ArcGIS Online Organizational account that will provide residents or citizens with access to the City’s Fire and Transit systems. Search Engine Optimization (SEO) best practices allow citizens to effortlessly find these applications through the City’s ArcGIS Online Organizational page.

The Fire Application will give users a greater understanding of fire related features in the city. Users will be able to view the locations of fire features as well as weather advisories, such as burn bans/fire advisories. In addition to viewing data, citizens will be able to interact with the data by determining their proximity to the nearest firehouses and fire hydrants, and view a heat map of daily call data.

The Transit Application will provide citizens with a user friendly interface to view and easily maneuver the Fayetteville Area System Transit. Users will be able to spatially view the location of bus stops and bus routes as well as view the route’s schedule information in a tabular format. In addition to bus stops and bus routes, users will be able to get directions from their current location or a predetermined location to an address and view local weather forecasts.

“Our new Fire and Transit applications look professional and attractive; an impressive end-user experience that we’re pleased to offer our residents and citizens. The Collector application has brought consolidation and ease to our employees’ field work by simply tapping a button and snapping a photo. We’re very happy with the work Timmons Group has done for our City,” says Richard Tuinstra at City of Fayetteville.
