Smart mapping from Esri is a new capability that takes the guesswork out of the process of creating attractive and relevant web maps. Built into Esri's ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS for Server technology, the smart mapping workflow is based on the philosophy that making maps that are both beautiful and meaningful should be easy for everyone.

To familiarize you with smart mapping, Esri will host a free live training seminar Create Data Visualizations Using Smart Mapping in ArcGIS on February 11, 2016.

Smart mapping guides you to make smart design choices based on the nature of your data, the type of map you want to create, and the kind of story you want to tell. Even if you have data that includes thousands of measurements or characteristics, smart mapping helps you to maximize its potential by providing better initial parameters, such as colors, scale, and styling that fit the data and maps' story. You will be able to make great looking maps quickly.

During this live training seminar, you will learn how to work with your data on a map to quickly spot patterns; illuminate those patterns by applying attractive and valid cartography; and, finally, share your results with colleagues or the public.
