Ultimaker to Showcase Two New 3d Printers at Solidworks World 2016

Attendees to See Demonstration of How They Can Optimize 3D Printing Using the New Ultimaker 2+ and Ultimaker 2 Extended+ 3D Printers and SOLIDWORKS Software

(Dallas, TX) – January 28, 2016 — Ultimaker, a leading 3D printer manufacturer, today announced that it will demonstrate the new Ultimaker 2+ and Ultimaker 2 Extended+ 3D printers at SOLIDWORKS World 2016, being held from January 31 – February 3, 2016 at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center, Dallas, Texas, USA. The 18th annual SOLIDWORKS World brings together designers, engineers, managers and partners to discuss ideas, trends and the technology shaping the future of product design. Show attendees will see how the new 3D printers and SOLIDWORKS software allow customers to expand the limits of 3D printing.

“We are excited to showcase two new 3D printers at SOLIDWORKS World this year,” says Jos Burger, CEO of Ultimaker. “The Ultimaker 2+ and Ultimaker 2 Extended+ are results of countless collaborations and insightful feedback we have received from the Ultimaker community. Both printers feature crucial upgrades based on what our customers are looking for in a 3D printer.”

Introduction of the New Ultimaker 2+ Machines

As a part of the Ultimaker vision and its modular machine strategy, Ultimaker introduces two new 3D printers, the Ultimaker 2+ and Ultimaker 2 Extended+. Both machines are the successors of the current Ultimaker 2 and Ultimaker 2 Extended and are available for purchase immediately. Due to Ultimakers open source strategy, they collaborated with the community for the following upgraded features on both machines:

  • Interchangeable Nozzles: Freedom to change nozzles in a matter of seconds makes working with different materials easier, eases maintenance and gives the possibility to choose between highly detailed prints or high speed prints.
  • Optimized Print Results: With the inclusion of a more powerful geared feeder, printing materials are less likely to skip.
  • Enhanced Surface Quality: Improved surface quality with astonishing results due to improved cooling.

“Customers are demanding even more creativity and efficiency from manufacturers, making product design and development even more challenging and putting more pressure on engineers,” said Nick Iwaskow, Director, Alliances & Partnerships, Dassault Systèmes SolidWorks Corporation. “It is all about productivity. To foster innovation that helps engineers design better products, we look forward to working with Ultimaker to enable their 3D printing opportunities directly within the SOLIDWORKS environment.”
