AGGIOS Announces Software Defined Power Management Solution for Xilinx Zynq Ultrascale+ MPSoC

IRVINE, CA--(Marketwired - November 11, 2015) - AGGIOS®, a software-defined power management pioneer, today announced the Seed™ Energy Manager for Xilinx® Zynq® UltraScale+™ MPSoC. The AGGIOS Seed software serves as a distributed energy supervisor for heterogeneous, multiprocessor, multi OS architectures and complements the standard OS power management to provide improved performance of a System on Chip (SoC) and complete device. As a companion to Seed, AGGIOS offers EnergyLab™, an energy management synthesis tool that helps simplify and accelerate adaptations of the Seed energy manager software to customers' applications.

"We are very excited to be working closely with Xilinx to demonstrate the benefits of our power management IP on the new Zynq chip as it is being showcased for the first time. The Xilinx Zynq MPSoC is an ideal target for our software-defined power management solutions because of the levels of multiprocessing complexity it handles and the critical importance of optimizing power for the whole application," said Dr. Vojin Zivojnovic, CEO of AGGIOS. "With the Seed energy manager, application developers now have full software control over the fine-grained details of energy and power consumed by their Zynq MPSoC based devices."

"AGGIOS provides the essential power management add-ons when it comes to battery life, energy efficiency and thermal performance of Zynq UltraScale+ MPSoC based devices," said Peter Ryser, senior director, System Software, Integration & Validation at Xilinx. "The Seed energy manager supports heterogeneous multiprocessor architectures for advanced distributed power management and delivers optimum power consumption and latency for a variety of customer applications."

The Seed Energy Manager from AGGIOS improves the performance of the standard OS power management in all active modes of operation and acts as a standalone power manager while the multiprocessor OSes are in suspend or idle modes enabling lowest power levels unattainable with standard OS power management. The software is available in Q1 2016 for the Zynq UltraScale+ MPSoC with other versions to be released throughout 2016.

Xilinx Zynq UltraScale+ MPSoC combines seven user programmable processors including a 64-bit quad-core ARM® Cortex™-A53 Application Processing Unit, a 32-bit dual-core ARM® Cortex™-R5 Real Time Processing Unit, and an ARM® Mali™-400 Graphics Processing Unit and will be showcased at ARM® TechCon 2015. The device enables the development of next-generation embedded vision, ADAS, I-IoT and communications systems by providing 5X system-level performance/watt and any-to-any connectivity with the security and safety required for next-generation systems.
