Micrium to Demonstrate µC/OS-III for Zynq UltraScale+ MPSoC at ARM TechCon

  • Only commercial RTOS available across Zynq UltraScale+ MPSoC ARM and MicroBlaze cores
  • Targets safety-critical automotive and wireless infrastructure markets

WESTON, Fla. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — November 9, 2015Micrium, the premier RTOS provider for embedded systems and the Internet of Things (IoT), today announced the first demonstration of its µC/OS-III® real time operating system (RTOS) kernel running on the Xilinx® Zynq® UltraScale+™ MPSoC board during ARM TechCon.

µC/OS-III is a commercial RTOS supporting all Xilinx processors under a single API; including ARM Cortex A9 and A53, ARM Cortex R5, and Xilinx MicroBlaze™ soft processor. Micrium’s support across all Xilinx processor types allows developers to focus on application development, deploying to the optimal processor for their system architecture.

“The reality is that applications continue to increase in complexity, and markets such as automotive and wireless infrastructure simply require highly reliable embedded software components,” said Jean Labrosse, president and CEO of Micrium. “As such, the reasons to use a RTOS like µC/OS-III that is proven in safety-critical applications is more important than ever.”

“Micrium’s µC/OS RTOS kernel is the leading commercial, safety-certifiable RTOS with a long history supporting ARM cores,” said Satish Swarnkar, senior director, Embedded Software Marketing, Xilinx. “The benefit of using a commercial RTOS and giving end users the capability to use a single operating system for all cores clearly simplifies application design, making it an ideal solution for our multi-core platform.”

The Xilinx All Programmable Zynq UltraScale+ MPSoC combines several user programmable processors including a quad-core 64-bit ARM® Cortex™-A53 Application Processing Unit, a dual-core 32-bit ARM® Cortex™-R5 Real Time Processing Unit, and the creation of multiple Xilinx MicroBlaze instances within the programmable logic. Micrium supports the platform with µC/OS-II® and µC/OS-III and components, including µC/TCP-IP™, µC/USB™, µC/FS™, (among others).

ARM TechCon will take place November 11-12, 2015 at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, Calif. Please visit Micrium in Booth 801 to see the new demo.
