Semitrex Expands Presence With New Silicon Valley Office

LAGUNA BEACH, CA -- (Marketwired) -- Oct 27, 2015 -- In a move that continues the expansion of its presence across North America and the globe, power semiconductor solutions company Semitrex today announced the opening of its San Jose office. With a stated mission to disrupt the power conversion status quo, Semitrex is taking its proven, award-winning, energy efficiency power supply technologies into the next phase of development. Located in the heart of Silicon Valley, the new office will enable Semitrex to strategically engage with and support customers.

To that end, technology industry veterans Roger Gabriel and Ken Harada will join the Semitrex executive team as vice president of global technical sales and vice president of systems engineering. Gabriel will leverage his more than 15 years of new business development with companies such as Oclaro and Honeywell to engage and support new customers. Semitrex will tap into his strong telecom/datacom SoC, processor, analog and power design skills. Harada's broad technical background, deep experience with start ups and ability to take a product from inception to commercialization will come into play as he helps Semitrex move into the next phase. He has a strong engineering background with companies such as Maxim IC (formerly Teridian Semiconductor) and Broadcom and will focus on product commercialization.

According to Jay Cormier, COO for Semitrex, "One of our goals is to reduce worldwide energy consumption, and continually expanding our global presence is just one of many steps we are taking to make this a reality. We have proven our technology and are now actively addressing the next phase of the company's growth. Bolstering our executive team and adding a new office in Silicon Valley enables us to be highly responsive to our customers as we shape our game-changing technology into a global solution."

The first comprehensive power conversion breakthrough in decades, Semitrex's core energy efficiency power supply technology improves the way that power conversions are made in order to create a significant increase in power efficiency and reduce grid stress. The highly energy-efficient TRONIUM™ is Semitrex's first chip and is based on its patented Muxcapacitor™ technology. TRONIUM has been tested with efficiencies over 90 percent across all load ranges (down to 50 milliamps) with only 1/2 milliwatt of standby power draw in the U.S. and one milliwatt of standby power draw in Europe. Standby power (also known as vampire power) is responsible for about 400 terawatts per year across 10 billion to 12 billion devices -- losses which Semitrex virtually eliminates. Semitrex uses its Muxcapacitor capacitive voltage conversions as the primary method of voltage reduction rather than traditional topologies, which rely on inductive parts for voltage conversions.

From chargers to servers to medical instrumentation, the applications for TRONIUM are expansive. Think power televisions/monitors, white goods, consumer electronics, telecom, data storage -- and more. All told, more than three billion devices can benefit from the energy efficiencies Semitrex provides.
