HENDERSON, Nev. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — October 20, 2015 — Aldec, Inc., the leading provider of FPGA test systems for DO-254 compliance with over 50 successful global projects, delivers a comprehensive pre-tool qualification data package for its FPGA Test System, DO-254/CTS™. Tool assessment and qualification are crucial responsibilities of the avionics supplier, and Aldec has streamlined the process by providing the required data package when using DO-254/CTS for design assurance level (DAL) A and B FPGAs.
Avionics certification authorities consider DO-254/CTS a verification tool, and therefore it must go through stringent tool assessment and qualification as defined in section 11.4 of RTCA/DO-254. “Tool qualification can be a huge undertaking if done by the avionics supplier, especially if done with limited or no help from the tool vendor,” said Louie De Luna, DO-254 Program Manager. “As a tool vendor, we believe that in order to provide high-quality support to our customers, we have to ensure that we test our tool by means of a structured tool qualification process defined in RTCA/DO-254 such that it will not fail to detect any design errors.”
The data package includes Tool Qualification Plan, Tool Operational Requirements, Tool Test Plan and Test Results, and Tool Qualification Accomplishment Summary in which all can be easily adapted by the applicant into their life cycle data. The Tool Qualification Data Package is available now. For details, visit www.aldec.com/do254/toolqual.
50+ Successful DO-254 Projects
Since 2008, Aldec has increased tool adoption and successfully completed 50+ DO-254 projects with several major avionics suppliers developing systems for the landing gear, flight control, graphical display, engine control and actuation. Aldec’s DO-254/CTS solution enables applicants to satisfy the verification objectives for FPGAs with design assurance level (DAL) A, B and C seeking compliance approval from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).
Aldec’s End-to-End Solution for DO-254
Over the years, Aldec has continued to develop new tools and solutions addressing specific DO-254 industry challenges in the areas of physical testing, traceability, tool qualification, HDL coding standards and CDC analysis. Aldec’s goal is to provide an end-to-end solution for DO-254 with the help of industry partners. Aldec’s current DO-254 product line includes:

About DO-254/CTS™
DO-254/CTS FPGA Test System is a fully customized hardware and software platform that augments target board testing to increase verification coverage by test and satisfy the verification objectives of DO-254/ED-80. The target design runs at-speed in the target device mounted on a custom daughter board. The simulation testbench is used as test vectors to enable requirements-based testing with 100% FPGA pin-level controllability and visibility necessary to implement normal range and abnormal range tests. The FPGA testing results are captured at-speed and displayed using a simulator waveform viewer for advanced analysis and documentation. www.aldec.com/do254
