HOUSTON — (BUSINESS WIRE) — October 19, 2015 — Changing Technologies, Inc. (OTCBB: CHGT), is looking closely at adding the new Microsoft 3MF file format to its list of accepted printing formats on its 6d3d.com online portal, which continues to draw considerable interest throughout the global 3D printing community.
Microsoft debuted the 3MF file format earlier this year to great fanfare. The new format makes 3D printing utilizing Microsoft’s Windows 10 operating platform easier and allows design applications to send full-fidelity 3D models to a mix of other applications, platforms, services and printers.
“Interoperability is key,” said CHGT CEO Marco Valenzuela. “And we want to make our portal work with as many file formats and platforms as possible. Doing so not only increases the portal’s versatility, it also adds to its value and appeal. Microsoft’s products have become the industry standard in many applications. Having our portal accept the 3MF file format means we’ll become an attractive site to designers and printers who prefer to use it. We’ll draw more users and increase site traffic and revenues.”
3D printing has seen tremendous growth over the past few years and has now entered the mainstream. Recent forecasts have predicted 3D printing will become an $8 billion global market by 2020.
