McLean, Va. Jun 17, 2015 -- The MTConnect Institute is taking part in Solid 2015, an event focused on hardware, software and the Internet of Things, June 23-25, 2015, in San Francisco. The MTConnect Institute will be exhibiting in booth #231, featuring a demo of its open-source communication standard in-action by enabling both point-of-presence visibility and cloud-based monitoring capabilities applied to manufacturing technologies.
MTConnect is an open-source, XML- and HTTP-based communications standard that helps foster improved connectivity between manufacturing equipment and devices, allowing for data collection and monitoring. It is a key enabler for allowing manufacturers to take advantage of digital manufacturing and cloud computing to optimize processes and functions on the shop floor. The standard has been adopted by manufacturers of all sizes across a broad array of industries, and it is free to download and implement.
Solid attendees can learn about the direct benefits and opportunities offered by MTConnect. This includes the following groups:
Manufacturing Business Leaders and Startups: Find out the ways that MTConnect is currently in use and how it can enable connected, seamless operations on your production floor.
Engineers: Learn how data monitoring and collection and connected operations can help you create better engineered and designed products.
Developers: There is a wealth of opportunities for the further development of applications that utilize the MTConnect communication standard. Developers can learn about the MTConnect schema, current uses and applications based on the standard, and needs for future development.
Students/Academic Professionals: A growing number of academic institutions have partnered with the MTConnect Institute to further the research and development for MTConnect. Additionally, the Institute is currently administering the MTConnect Student Challenge, a Department of Defense-sponsored competition seeking ideas and applications utilizing MTConnect.
