52nd Design Automation Conference: Largest Conference in Electronic Design Closes With an Increase in Attendance

14.5% increase in “I Love DAC” attendees leads to vibrant exhibition

LOUISVILLE, Colo. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — June 17, 2015 — Total conference attendance at the 52nd Design Automation Conference (DAC), the premier event on automation and design of electronic systems, exceed the DAC Executive Committee (EC) expectations with 7,011 people attending the Conference. Attendees cited the Executive Committee’s (EC’s) decision to revamp the DAC Pavilion with SKY Talks (mini-keynotes) and Fireside Chats, along with adding networking events and poster sessions on the exhibition floor, as reasons for their excitement about DAC 2015.

Exhibit floor receptions on Monday and Tuesday brought visitors back onto the floor at the end of each day. Booth staff appreciated the floor opening at 10:00am rather than 9:00am, giving them the first-ever opportunity to attend keynotes. The inspiring, cutting-edge topics of all the keynotes drew large crowds as exemplified by Monday’s Keynote by Brian Otis from Google drawing over 1,300 people alone.

“This year’s DAC was all about business and growing business,” said Rob van Blommestein of S2C, Industry Liaison Chair for the 52nd DAC. “There was an increase of steady traffic for the three days of the tradeshow, but even better was the quality of the traffic. Many vendors I spoke to enjoyed a constant stream of interested, qualified visitors.”

“Last year in San Francisco, we had 2,393 full conference passes and 1,650 exhibits-only passes compared with 2,504 and 1,889 this year,” said Anne Cirkel, general chair for the 52nd DAC. “The combination of an excellent and wide-ranging technical program – with a record number of technical papers and poster presentations –with the information the vendors offered on the exhibit floor seems to have been especially appealing this year. The Google keynote on Monday was so full that the fire marshal had to shut the doors and refuse entry to some potential attendees!”
