The International Collaboration Project was founded by award-winning artists Francisco Diaz (USA) and Deb Young (New Zealand) to bring global artists together in a virtual collaboration of concept-based works designed to create social dialogue for international exhibitions. The idea of photographers working together on one piece, each looking through the same camera lens remotely to shape its unique completion, is revolutionary. www.fdiazphotos.com and http://deb-young-nz.com

This new approach requires a conversation first before an idea for a concept is formed; then each collaborator shoots random photos from their own point of view. The random images are montaged to create different reflections of the same idea to escalate the concept into a greater, more intense result. Each International Collaboration Project series is designed so every piece in the collection calls into question what is real and what is not real. Each work presents the concept theme but also encourages the viewer to see more, as they look deeper, only to realize that nothing is truly real. Time itself makes the world a fantasy, an image, and a simple fleeting reflection of time. This is reinforced poignantly in the images of each series.

Francisco Diaz said, "I am excited about the work I am doing with my International Collaboration Project collaborator Deb Young. She was open to the notion of true collaboration and I loved her work and her sensibility. It's good to take a unique idea and gain inspiration from another artist, especially a woman artist who can add a feminine aspect to my masculine outlook."

Diaz further said, "The art of photography has always been a somewhat solo profession. Collaboration like this creates a powerful female/male synergy which helps us promote a more balanced approach to our cinematic narrative photomontages. For example, the "Playground Series" is light and approachable at first glance but is really a dark review of childhood alienation. We want to use photography to talk about cause-related issues in a beautiful, meaningful, authentic way. We hope our work evokes conversation about serious subjects."

International Collaboration Project work has been exhibited in The Photo Review Magazine, L'Aiguillage Galerie, Paris, France; The Fine Art and Documentary Photography Biennial, 6th Edition Pollux Awards, Malaga, Spain; New Photographic Visions at Castell Gallery, Ashville, NC; Curator's Voice Theme: Approaching the Unreal Exhibition at Modernbook Gallery, SF, CA; The Kolga Awards in Photography, Tbilisi, Georgia; The Center For Fine Art Photography, "National World" Exhibition, Co; The Royal Easter Show 2014, wins Most Successful Photographers of the Show, New Zealand; The Auckland Festival of Photography, New Zealand; Griffin Museum of Photography's Peter Urban Legacy Exhibition, MA.
