Netherfire and Egret's Alliance Tap the HTML5 Games Market

SILICON VALLEY, Calif., May 27, 2015 — (PRNewswire) — It is shown that in Q1 of 2015, there are over 1.21 billion players who play HTML5 games. "This is a golden age for Internet entrepreneurship," said Edwin Chen, Egret Technology's Founder and CEO. It is for this reason that Egret hosted the second HTML5 Game Ecosystem Conference on May 22nd.

During this convention, Silicon Valley based Netherfire Entertainment formed a strategic alliance with Egret Technology. They plan to release a product to service HTML5 games in Q4 this year. Netherfire's CMO Icey Sui, Project Director Robert Hu, and many esteemed industry veterans were present during this convention. Topics around HTML5 game development, innovation, and its future were the most popular. One topic was on everyone's mind – HTML5 games in the overseas market. A global HTML5 ecosystem is the new direction leaders of HTML5 games were pushing for this year.

Overseas Markets
HTML5 games' biggest advantage is instant play with no need to download and install. It is also cross-platform, since any device with a browser can play, including computers. One such example is Trap the Crazy Cat (围住神经猫) which became an internet phenomenon because of its ease to play as well as its viral spread through social media. The game really garnered the attention of the industry when it was found to have a short development cycle and a small team. This is something common with HTML5 games.

The Ecosystem
With more and more developers switching to HTML5 development, ways to monetize are being introduced. To help this new trend along, Egret has worked with Xiaomi and other manufacturers in China to make sure its engine is compatible. With the new alliance formed with Netherfire, Egret also plans to expand overseas.

Innovation and Support
There are currently over 13,000 game developers and 1,000 games using the Egret engine. To support them, Egret continues to introduce new features and software to the engine. For example, DragonBones, Egret's skeletal animation software, has over 20,000 developers.

To lower the barrier of entry, Egret has released tools such as Egret Wings, a development environment, Egret Feather, a special effects maker, Dragon Bones, a skeletal animation designer, and Egret Conversion, a Flash converter. With the onset of this new alliance with Netherfire, Chinese developers will also have access to localization and acculturalization for the overseas markets.

Globalization
With the growth of HTML5 and new services in cloud, payment, marketing, and data analysis, HTML5 is quickly becoming a new frontier in the industry. With the overseas markets still untapped, Netherfire's alliance with Egret will provide a path for developers to quickly expand their business. Not only will this service Chinese developers, it will also help developers in other markets. Netherfire's CMO Icey Sui has claimed that even releasing a HTML5 version of an existing game could effectively double your income. Globalization is a trend, and soon every market will see a spike of HTML5 games.
