Mr. Bean Partners With Nerd Block to Curate a New "British Invasion"

TORONTO, May 25, 2015 — (PRNewswire) —  Mr. Bean, known the world over and loved by millions of fans from all walks of life, has, without saying more than a word or two at a time, partnered with premium subscription box company Nerd Block to curate June's "British Invasion" themed block.

"The mass appeal of Mr. Bean makes him a perfect fit to partner with," says Russ Montague, President of Nerd Block. "He doesn't say much, but he was able communicate with us via hilariously complicated gesticulating. All the items in this month's block were, to the best of our understanding, chosen by him."

Given the theme of "British Invasion" and Mr. Bean's popularity as one of the British Empire's top exports, his partnership with Nerd Block for this project was the perfect fit. Maybe too perfect. He tried to fit inside one of the boxes.

"Like everything he's ever done, Mr. Bean brought a huge amount of energy and enthusiasm to working with us," adds Montague. "This is one Nerd Block fans of all things British will not want to miss!"

Subscribers to Nerd Block can expect at least one Mr. Bean item, along with collectibles from other famous and well-loved British series including Dr. Who, Monty Python, and more.

About Mr. Bean
The first episode of the original Mr Bean series, starring Rowan Atkinson, was first broadcast on 1st January 1990. Since then Mr Bean has become known all over the world. Created by Rowan Atkinson and Richard Curtis, there were only 14 episodes ever made.

Rowan Atkinson's comic acting genius has created a highly original work for television. The Mr Bean series has been sold to 190 territories worldwide and has won an International Emmy and the Golden Rose of Montreux.

In 2002 the character was transformed into an animated series of 26 half hour episodes. The series remains entirely faithful to the original Mr Bean, with the character still living very much in the real world. Rowan Atkinson provided all of Mr Bean's vocal sounds and worked on the transformation of the character, acting out every episode in front of the cameras so that the animators could capture the unique movement of Britain's most infamous character.

2014 saw the development of a second animated series of 26 half hour episodes, which is to be launched in February 2015. It is voiced by Rowan Atkinson, and produced in-house at Tiger Aspect, an Endemol Shine Company, by the UK's largest current animation team. 2015 is set to be a huge year for Mr Bean as we also celebrate the 25th anniversary of this massively popular, comedy brand.
