Games from Rovio, Ubisoft, HandyGames and others featuring Immersion’s TouchSense® Engage launch in a new collection on Google Play
SAN JOSE, Calif. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — April 16, 2015 — Immersion Corporation (NASDAQ: IMMR), the leading developer and licensor of touch feedback technology, today announced the emergence of a distinctive new gaming experience for mobile users – games you can feel. This experience is the result of Immersion’s work with mobile game developers, such as Rovio, Ubisoft, HandyGames and others, to incorporate the sense of touch into mobile games, making them roar, shake, blast, bounce, flutter and pop in users’ hands. Embracing the next level of advanced multi-sensory game design, developers are using TouchSense® Engage, Immersion’s haptic technology, to enhance their games with tactile effects and create a greater sense of fun and enjoyment for gamers.
Further underscoring the immersive experience that is offered by tactile effects, these games are now available in the first-ever Games You Can Feel collection on Google Play. The collection highlights the best games for Android that include a touch experience as a part of the game.
“HandyGames worked with Immersion early on to integrate tactile effects in our mobile games. It is a fantastic feature that has become a seamless part of the experience we offer,” said Christopher Kassulke, CEO of HandyGames. “The new collection in Google Play is a reaffirmation that the tactile experience has evolved to become a more rewarding part of the game play.”
“Over the past few months, Immersion has worked closely with leading mobile game developers to customize tactile effects for their games,” said Jason Patton, general manager and vice president of Content and Media at Immersion. “From this effort, we are seeing a whole new user experience emerge – one that is more immersive and engaging for mobile game players. Touch technology advances game design, enabling developers to add tactile effects to create a more in-depth gaming experience.”
