Kilopass Focuses on Market and Roadmap Expansion After Sidense Patent Litigation

SAN JOSE, CA -- (Marketwired) -- Mar 16, 2015 -- Kilopass Technology, Inc., a leading provider of semiconductor logic non-volatile memory (NVM) intellectual property (IP), acknowledges the recent ruling of the U.S. District Court awarding Sidense Corporation $5.5 million for patent litigation legal fees. Kilopass has set aside cash in the full amount of the award.

In 2012, Judge Illston dismissed the patent lawsuit brought by Kilopass against Sidense in a summary judgment, but denied Sidense's request to recover fees. The judge reversed her decision after a recent Supreme Court ruling changed the legal standards for fee recovery. Kilopass has not decided and is evaluating its options to appeal the ruling. Regardless of its decision with regard to an appeal, the company is moving ahead with the execution of its expanded technology and market roadmaps.

"We are disappointed in the ruling but, as customers and the market have the substance of the litigation behind them, so do we," remarked Charlie Cheng, Kilopass' CEO. "Operationally, we have been busy with 10nm-16nm nodes for OTP roadmap, low-power IoT challenges, and new memory technologies."

Kilopass enjoyed its most successful year in 2014 and exited the year with ample working capital to fund its organizational and technology plans, even assuming immediate payment of the award. The company continues to deliver its NVM IP on the most advanced process nodes for leading foundries and integrated device manufacturer (IDMs), and has expanded its roadmap in new memory technologies.
