ProjectWise Scenario Services Delivers the Computational Power of the Cloud to Enable Better Decisions About Design Trade-Offs(Bentley)

Analyses can be run to predict a design’s real-world performance based on a fixed set of parameters. However, exploring the impact of a range of design trade-offs within one discipline, or across several disciplines, can become time consuming and hardware intensive. Design teams would benefit most from understanding the combined performance and achievement of overall design objectives by effectively comparing the trade-offs of one performance criteria against another.

The system requirements and computational power required to explore the huge potential number of possible combinations for any project is time consuming and beyond the reach of what a desktop computer can reasonably address. If teams could easily and rapidly explore many combinations of options, otherwise known as optioneering, they could identify a smaller, more manageable set of scenarios that most closely achieve the overall design objectives that could be explored in more detail.  The efficiencies achieved in design and their implications on the lifecycle cost of the asset can be significant.

To address these needs, Bentley is introducing ProjectWise Scenario Services, a highly scalable cloud service to support analysis of multiple performance criteria in batches called scenarios, leveraged directly from Bentley desktop design and analysis applications. Santanu Das, senior vice president of design and simulation, said, “ProjectWise Scenario Services uniquely deliver the ability to compare the impact of changes to multiple performance criteria.  We leverage powerful new cloud based computational capabilities that enable users of Bentley’s design and analysis applications to make far better decisions about design trade-offs and, ultimately, deliver projects that best achieve better design outcomes.”
