Margulies Perruzzi Architects’ Marc Margulies Elevated to AIA Fellowship

AIA Fellowship recognizes significant contributions to profession of architecture and society

BOSTON – March 11, 2015 –  Margulies Perruzzi Architects (MPA), one of Boston’s most innovative architectural and interior design firms, is pleased to announce that principal Marc Margulies, FAIA, LEED AP, has been elevated to the College of Fellows of the American Institute of Architects (FAIA), in recognition of his achievements in design, his contributions to architecture, and his service to society.

The AIA Fellowship program was developed to elevate those architects who have made a significant contribution to architecture and society and who have achieved a standard of excellence in the profession. Election to fellowship not only recognizes the achievements of architects as individuals, but also their significant contribution to architecture and society on a national level. AIA fellowship is one of the highest honors an architect can achieve. Marc is one of only eight members of the Boston Society of Architects/AIA to be elevated to the prestigious College of Fellows in 2015.

“Marc’s passion is to be a voice for the value of thoughtful architecture in the communities we serve,” said Dan Perruzzi, AIA, LEED AP. “He strongly believes that people are deeply affected by their workplace, and that architects can contribute enormously to making businesses more successful and their employees healthier and happier. Marc is an exemplary architect who has built a firm that continues his vision of designing workplaces that support and inspire.”

Marc is an award-winning architect, community leader, real estate industry mentor, and philanthropist. He founded Margulies Perruzzi Architects in 1988, and has grown it into one of Boston’s largest and most respected architecture and interior design firms with a reputation for creating designs that measurably enhance the quality of the workplace. He and his staff have designed a host of innovative U.S. and global corporate headquarters that inspire collaboration amongst employees while embracing environmental sustainability and wellness. Marc’s award-winning portfolio includes corporate headquarters for Covidien, FM Global, Vistaprint, Philips North America, Forrester Research, Intercontinental, Iron Mountain, and Boston Scientific, among others,

A recipient of numerous design, industry, and community service awards, Marc is recognized for his leadership in real estate industry-related organizations. He has served on the board of directors of the Boston Society of Architects (BSA), National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP), CoreNet, and Commercial Brokers Association (CBA). He founded the Boston Chapter of the International Facility Management Association (IFMA) in 1985 and continues today as an executive committee member. A prolific speaker for these and other institutions, Marc works to instill in his audience an appreciation for the role of the architect and the fundamental value of well-conceived architectural design.

In addition to his professional contributions, Marc is dedicated to important community and philanthropic endeavors, most notably Heading Home, one of the Boston area’s largest agencies devoted to ending homelessness. For more than 20 years, he has served as a leader, director, and chairman of the board of Heading Home, applying his architectural skills and experience to the design of six homeless shelters. He has served on the board of directors of the Boys and Girls Club of Boston, and is currently a trustee and chair of the Physical Resources Committee of Mount Ida College and board member of the North Bennett Street School. Marc is a supporter of the United Way and the Boston Children’s Museum, as well as several other agencies focused on children and the less-fortunate. Marc’s efforts to improve the lives of others have resulted in his receiving many accolades and awards, but more importantly, have contributed to the recognition that he, and his fellow architects, bring the experience and skills to make our communities better places to work and live.

In May, Marc will be formally recognized with an AIA Fellowship medal during the Investiture of Fellows Ceremony at the 2015 AIA Convention in Atlanta.
