GPU Compute Enabled Imaging Technologies Set New Standards for User-Experience in Mainstream Devices
FREMONT, Calif. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — March 2, 2015 — ArcSoft, a global leader in image-intelligent technologies, today announced that it will be demonstrating three of its leading imaging solutions at the ARM booth at Mobile World Congress 2015, bringing high-end visual experiences to mainstream mobile devices. Using a combination of 64-bit octa-core ARM® Cortex®-A53 processor optimizations together with the GPU Compute capabilities of the ARM Mali™-T760 GPU, as featured in the MediaTek MT6752 development platform, ArcSoft was able to deliver market leading performance in imaging applications to a broad spectrum of users.
A much broader range of consumers can now take advantage of improved image quality in low-light conditions, face beautification and pre-ISP video stabilization previously only available in high-end devices. Additional benefits include up to 50% better performance, while also lowering energy consumption, which prolongs device battery life. Overall this powerful integration provides an enhanced experience never achieved before in mainstream devices. This is made possible through the synergistic use of optimized OpenCL on the Mali GPU and ARM NEON™ technology on the ARM CPU.
“ArcSoft brings a wealth of imaging experience and a suite of innovative technology to the mobile, connected world,” said Dennis Laudick, vice president, partner marketing, media processing group, ARM. “Working together to take advantage of ARM’s scalable, energy-efficient processors and advanced features like GPU Compute, we were able to bring cutting-edge imaging technologies to the mainstream market that were previously only found in premium devices.”
ArcSoft will provide demos for the following at ARM’s booth: Hall 6, Stand 6C10, Mobile World Congress, March 2-5 in Barcelona, Spain.
- Nighthawk- provides better image clarity on mobile devices in low-light conditions.
- BeautyShot – provides face beautification for portrait images.
- Pre-ISP digital optimization - adds video stabilization.
“ARM is a leader in its industry and a natural partner for ArcSoft. Our collaboration results in improved imaging and significantly better performance for mainstream devices delivering entirely new experiences to millions of consumers,” said Frison Xu, GM and VP of OEM Marketing and Services Group, ArcSoft.
