OpenDNS to Present Attack Visualization Techniques at Kaspersky Security Analyst Summit

Security Researchers to Demonstrate How to Track Internet Threats by Visualizing IP and DNS Data

(BUSINESS WIRE) — February 13, 2015Click to Tweet: @OpenDNS researchers to discuss visualization and #threat tracking @kaspersky #thesas2015 http://bit.ly/1iFDmW3

WHO:   Dhia Mahjoub, senior security researcher at OpenDNS, builds threat detection systems based on the monitoring and analysis of internet traffic and hosting infrastructures. He holds a doctorate in computer science from Southern Methodist University with a specialty in graph theory applied to wireless sensor networks.

Thibault Reuille, security researcher at OpenDNS, is the creator of OpenGraphiti, an open source 3D data visualization engine. Prior to OpenDNS, he was a software engineer for NVIDIA where he helped develop the NVIDIA Parallel Nsight integrated development environment for GPU computing and graphics applications. He holds a master’s degree in information technology from the EPITA in Paris, France.

WHAT: Criminals are using the naming, hosting and routing infrastructures of the Internet to launch attacks and cover their tracks. OpenDNS researchers will present a new approach for detecting threats at the DNS and IP level using 3D visualization techniques. They will describe several successful case studies involving well-known malware campaigns and how visualization was used to gather intelligence to preemptively detect and block malicious IP infrastructures.

WHERE: Kaspersky Security Analyst Summit (SAS), JW Marriott Cancun Resort, Cancún, Q.R., Mexico

WHEN: Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. Eastern Time.

HOW:
