Tinkerers, innovators, hobbyists, crafters, DIY-ers, scientists, artists, and engineers of all ages and skill levels came to World Maker Faire to see 830 maker projects, equaling over 2,500 individual makers, including 200 presentations from the leaders of the maker movement, fan-favorite attractions, and more. They took in fantastic experiences such as the first New York appearance by Russell the Electric Giraffe; a 3D printer towering in at 17-feet tall; a team of three female botanists changing the world of aromatic bitters; the first mass-market 3D printer; a light-up-at-night pet collar created by an 11-year old maker; an opportunity to take on soldering skills; the first 3D-printed, fully-electric car; DIY cardboard kinetic dinosaurs; and an artful 51-foot articulated, human-powered crocodile.
"This year's event brought together a very diverse group of makers. From individual projects and start-ups to larger companies, there was such a range," said Dale Dougherty, CEO of Maker Media and co-founder of Maker Faire. "It really demonstrated the reach of the maker movement and how it's shaping the future."

"World Maker Faire once again proved that the New York Hall of Science is the focal point for 'making' in the New York area," said Margaret Honey, president and CEO of NYSCI. "Not only has the Faire become the ultimate maker experience, but NYSCI is also home to a full year's worth of maker programs, workshops and special events that help the maker community grow and prosper. The maker movement has a home at the New York Hall of Science and we are already looking forward to World Maker Faire 2015."
World Maker Faire will return to the New York Hall of Science in Queens on Saturday-Sunday, September 26-27, 2015. The Faire will continue to be a platform for the maker movement, bringing together, educating, and inspiring makers from the New York area and beyond.
About Maker Faire
Maker Faire is the Greatest Show (and Tell) on Earth -- a family-friendly showcase of invention, creativity, and resourcefulness, and a celebration of the Maker Movement. It's a place where people of all ages and backgrounds gather together to show what they are making and share what they are learning.
Maker Faire launched in 2006 in San Mateo, California, less than a year after its parent publication, MAKE Magazine, launched in 2005. Maker Faire celebrated 100 Faires in 2013 alone and has reached over 1.5 million attendees globally since its inception. The ninth annual Maker Faire Bay Area welcomed some 1,100 maker projects and over 130,000 attendees. World Maker Faire New York, the other flagship event, has grown in five years to 830 maker projects and 85,000 attendees. Detroit, Kansas City, Rome, Paris, Oslo, Trondheim, Newcastle (UK), Orlando, Silver Spring, Atlanta, Milwaukee, Tokyo and Shenzhen host the "featured" Maker Faires (200+ makers), and community-driven, independently organized Mini Maker Faires inspire and ignite creative communities everywhere around the United States and internationally.
Located in Sebastopol and Berkeley, California, Maker Media has been widely credited with jumpstarting the worldwide Maker Movement, which has been a transforming force in innovation, culture, and education. In addition to publishing MAKE Magazine and producing Maker Faire, Maker Media develops "getting started" kits and books it sells through its Maker Shed store as well as other retail channels.
New York Hall of Science

A visit to NYSCI is a hands-on, energetic educational experience where you can indulge your curiosity and nurture your creativity. NYSCI offers professional development for teachers, produces curricula and resources for classrooms, and studies how technology, gaming and play affect how we learn.
