Cypress Adds New Package and Temperature Range Options to Industry-Leading High-Density F-RAM Portfolio

SAN JOSE, CA -- (Marketwired) -- Sep 18, 2014 -- Cypress Semiconductor Corp. (NASDAQ: CY) today announced the enhancement of its Ferroelectric Random Access Memory ( F-RAM™) portfolio with a 44-pin TSOPII package option for its 1 Mb parallel asynchronous interface F-RAM and an extended temperature range of -40˚C to +105˚C for its 2 Mb Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) F-RAM.

The new package option enables pin-to-pin replacement for standard battery-backed SRAM solutions for mission-critical applications in industrial automation, computing, networking and automotive electronics. F-RAM's inherent nonvolatility provides instant data capture and retention for one hundred years with no batteries. Eliminating the need for a battery reduces system cost and complexity. The extended temperature range for the 2 Mb SPI F-RAM addresses the challenging operating conditions faced in many high-performance applications in harsh environments.

"Cypress offers the industry's fastest, most energy-efficient nonvolatile RAM solutions and we are committed to expanding our leading portfolio," said Rainer Hoehler, Senior Director of the Nonvolatile Products Business Unit at Cypress. "We are pleased to offer these additional package and temperature range options to our F-RAM customers."

Availability
The 1 Mb parallel asynchronous interface F-RAM device in a 44-pin TSOPII package and the extended temperature range of -40˚C to +105˚C for the 2 Mb SPI F-RAM device in an 8-pin TDFN package are both available now.

About Cypress F-RAMs
Cypress offers a broad portfolio of F-RAM products with densities from 4 Kb to 4 Mb and supply voltages from 2.0V to 5.5V. Cypress F-RAMs feature virtually unlimited endurance of one-hundred trillion read and write cycles, making them an ideal solution for write-intensive applications. F-RAM is the industry's most energy efficient nonvolatile RAM solution; the F-RAM cell is inherently low power and operates without a charge pump. Cypress F-RAM is an ideal solution for applications requiring high-performance, high-reliability, low-cost nonvolatile memory solutions, including automotive, industrial, computing, networking, smart meter, and multifunction printer applications.
