MoSys to Demonstrate Lowest Power 100G Retimer for Optical Module, Extended Reach PHY Products for Line Card Applications and Memory Bottleneck Solutions at ECOC 2014

LineSpeed 100G PHY Demonstrations at GigOptix, OIF and MoSys highlight low-power optical module solution, CFP4 interoperability and QSFP28 Passive Copper support; and Bandwidth Engine interoperability with Altera and Xilinx FPGAs enables high performance packet processing solutions

SANTA CLARA, Calif. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — September 17, 2014 — MoSys, Inc. (NASDAQ: MOSY):

Who: MoSys (NASDAQ: MOSY), a leader in semiconductor solutions that enable fast, intelligent data access for network and communications systems, is exhibiting at ECOC 2014, booth #519. The company will show an extensive array of technology demonstrations that encompass module applications, line card applications, and solutions for increased memory bandwidth for packet processing. Booth demonstrations will include:

1. New MoSys® LineSpeed™ 100G Low Power Retimer (MSH110) private demonstration at MoSys booth #519.

2. MoSys and GigOptix will demonstrate interoperability between the MoSys® LineSpeed MSH110 PHY and the GigOptix HXT/R6204 Laser Driver and TIA ICs at GigOptix booth #396. The 100G demonstration will show the devices combined to deliver a complete loopback of 4 lanes of 25.78Gbps over more than 100m of multimode fiber. The performance between the devices was optimized to deliver error-free performance with PRBS-31 traffic across the fiber and highlights the ability of MoSys’ full duplex retimer and GigOptix’s Transimpedance Amplifier (TIA) and Laser Driver (LD) to form a solution for VCSEL based applications, such as 100GBASE-SR4. The ultra low-power 700mW retimer and laser driver and TIA devices support multiple module form factors, including the stringent size and power envelope requirements of the QSFP28 MSA. The companies are working together to provide flexible solutions and expect that future product combinations will make further improvements in power and address additional optical applications.

3. Optical Internetworking Forum’s (OIF) 2014 interoperability event, “Accelerating Momentum on the Road to Next-Generation Architectures,” and related demonstrations will take place at OIF booth #525. The interoperability event leverages multiple MoSys products and highlights lowest power and long reach applications:

a. CFP4 100GBASE-LR4 module interoperability leveraging OIFs CEI-28G-VSR electrical specification with the MSH110 full duplex quad low power retimer.

b. CFP4 Active Copper Cable demonstration of MoSys’ full duplex LineSpeed 100G Quad Retimer (MSH210) for line card applications supporting the CEI-28G-VSR electrical specification.

c. MoSys QSFP28 passive copper cable demonstration with 4 additional cable and connector participants interoperating using the OIF CEI-25G-LR electrical specification over 2, 3, and 4 meters of various gauge (AWG) copper cable. The cables are connected between two LineSpeed 100G Multi-Mode Gearbox (MSH310) devices via 25dB+ of insertion loss including cables, connectors, breakout cards and evaluation boards.

4. MoSys Bandwidth Engine® IC interoperability with Xilinx® Virtex®-7 and Altera® Stratix® V FPGAs at 12.5 Gbps showcasing the capability of MoSys technology in solving critical packet processing memory transaction bottlenecks for 100G up to terabit system applications that require packet intelligence including lookups, statistics, metering and buffering at these high rates.
