City of Stockton, California Streamlines Land Management with Accela Civic Platform

Stockton Will Use Accela Solutions for Building and Planning; Will Enhance City Operations and Services for Citizens

SAN RAMON, Calif. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — September 11, 2014Accela, the leading provider of civic engagement solutions for government agencies, announced today that the City of Stockton, California, has selected the Accela Civic Platform. East of San Francisco in the farmland of California’s Central Valley, and with a population of nearly 300,000, Stockton will use Accela Land Management solutions on the Accela Civic Platform to replace a legacy system, modernizing its ability to manage land assets and engage with citizens.

With Land Management solutions, Stockton will streamline planning and zoning, permitting and inspection. The solution makes it easy to govern land use and community development activities to move from plan consideration to certificate of occupancy faster, enabling Stockton to save time for citizens and agency staff, increase productivity and better serve its growing populace.

Accela Land Management is a core solution on the Accela Civic Platform, which connects public sector, citizens, partners and developers to engage, interact and transact. Accela provide solutions for government agencies to automate and streamline civic processes around land, licensing, asset management, public health and safety, legislative management, recreation and resource management, and more. From making it easier to open and run a business, to completing permits and inspections, to making city council meeting agendas, minutes and decisions available online, the time-tested and secure Civic Platform provides the foundation for creating the two-way flow of data that makes engagement possible and helps to build the bridge between agencies and citizens.

The Stockton upgrade to the Civic Platform also includes:

  • Citizen Access: enables citizens, building contractors and tradespeople to search for, submit and pay for permit applications.
  • GIS: provides agency staff with an easy way to interact with GIS data through integration with their Esri or Internet maps.
  • Mobile Office: Designed specifically for field use and leveraging the latest in mapping technology, Mobile Office will help agency staff create inspections, investigations and code enforcement cases from the field. Department field workers will be supported by Accela GIS, which integrates Esri ArcGIS maps with the Civic Platform.

“As cities look to modernize their interactions with citizens and businesses, governments are turning to Accela for solutions that simplify and accelerate key civic processes and overall engagement,” said Maury Blackman, Accela president and CEO. “We’re proud to work with the City of Stockton to support their goals of empowering citizens and providing more efficient government processes.”
