Laser Technology’s TruPulse® Awakens Inner GIS Capabilities at Esri UC

July 15, 2014 -- Laser Technology, Inc. (LTI), designer and manufacturer of the most popular line of laser measurement and mapping products, has just announced their 2014 GIS campaign, “Awaken Your Inner GIS.”  Most field data collection hardware and software used by GIS professionals already possess laser offset capabilities; it just needs to be awakened by one of Laser Technology’s TruPulse lasers.  What this means is that GIS professionals can leverage the benefits of lasers without replacing or upgrading their current software or hardware.

LTI’s TruPulse models are compatible with GPS/GNSS handhelds from companies like Trimble, Topcon, Geneq and Spectra Precision through a Bluetooth connection or with a RS232 cable.  Field data collection software programs such as Esri’s ArcPad and ArcGIS® for Windows® Mobile, Trimble’s TerraSync and Topcon’s MAGNET Field are all capable of accepting LTI’s laser data string.

One of the biggest benefits that comes with laser offsets is the value of collecting a location of a feature without having to occupy it with a GPS antenna.  This vastly increases field productivity and allows professionals to collect the data they need regardless of where the feature is located, such as private property, extreme terrain or any other circumstance that prevents easy accessibility. Another major advantage in using lasers is the ability to quickly and easily measure additional attribute data, such as heights, spans, slope grades or elevations.  All this valuable information can be applied to data fields within compatible software programs.

At this year’s Esri User Conference booth #2417, Laser Technology will be taking a poll asking attendees what they are currently using to collect field data with the intention of prioritizing the creation of electronic quick reference guides which show how to integrate LTI lasers with specific software.  Some technical documents have already been created and will be available for viewing and distribution at LTI’s booth.  Anyone can take the same poll online and be entered to win one of three TruPulse 360R lasers.  For an additional chance to win, register and attend LTI’s upcoming public webcast to air live July 30, 2014 at 10 AM (MST).
