CE Week Names The Buccaneer 3D Printer 'Best in Show'

NEW YORK, June 25, 2014 — (PRNewswire) —  CE Week, the Consumer Electronics industry's new technology showcase and trade conference, held in New York City, names The Buccaneer 3D Printer as 2014 "Best in Show" in its category. The Buccaneer 3D printer will be exhibited and demonstrated in the 3D Pavilion at 125 West 18th Street.

The Buccaneer makes the future of inventing accessible, affordable and now. It is smaller, more compact and lighter in weight than the leading 3D printers currently on the market, measuring 10" L by 10"W x 17" H and weighing 18 pounds. It is safer to operate with a stainless steel printing platform with automatic leveling capability during printing. It is extremely user-friendly and will work with a MAC, PC or iPhone. Consumers make their customized creations in roughly 2 hours – start to finish – on average. The price is much less than the leading competitors at a suggested $1299.

"The Buccaneer is the only 3D printer that is hassle free and extremely user friendly," says Roger Chang, Pirate3D CEO. "You basically take the printer out of the box, and start printing literally in five minutes."

The Buccaneer's Smart Objects technology allows anyone to create 3D models in just seconds. The Treasure Island Web site will allow for the upload of designs curated by Pirate3D. The patented unibody extruder allows for perfect flow with even heat distribution providing jam free printing for more than 200 hours. The setup is simple, making for a reliable 3D printing experience. Each cartridge contains 400 grams of PLA plastic. The Buccaneer is capable of producing prints with resolution of up to 85 microns per layer, just like the more expensive printers. Unlike other 3D printers, The Buccaneer has a print fail rate of one in ten, as opposed to a one in five fail rate for its competitors.

The Buccaneer was created so that consumers will be able to think it, dream it and then make it in the comfort of their own homes, offices and schools.  It enables consumers of all ages and interests to bring their ideas to life and demonstrate their creativity.

The Buccaneer will be at market in September 2014.  For further information, log on to www.pirate3d.com.
