Fuhu Unveils Morpho Pods Bringing Dragons to Life

EL SEGUNDO, CA -- (Marketwired) -- Jun 23, 2014 -- Fuhu, creator of the award-winning nabi tablet and the foremost innovators in kids technology, is pioneering a new tablet-based immersive play experiences that connects physical and digital play in all new ways with Morpho Pods™. Leveraging the latest advances in near field communication (NFC) technology, Morpho Pods merge toys, video games, interactive storybooks and custom animation to bring together physical and digital play in all new ways with a simple tap of toy to tablet. Kids can bring to life Dragons from DreamWorks Animation's How To Train Your Dragon films for all new adventures and stories that provide a variety of digital interactive experiences with the Morpho Pods Dragons Edition.

Morpho Pods are tablet-based NFC collectible figurines that are unlike typical high-priced console based physical to digital video games. Each Morpho Pods Dragons Edition package contains a small palm-sized pod that springs open into an interlocking head, body or tail of a dragon that can be connected. With the simple tap of the Morpho Pods to nabi DreamTab, kids can bring their dragons to life for adventures that go beyond just game play. Morpho Pods Dragons Editions will also unlock all new How To Train Your Dragon storytelling experiences in the coming weeks. Also available in the summer, custom animations of Dragons character moments that surprise and delight kids.

Morpho Pods bring a physical offline play experience that adds a new play aspect to NFC enabled toys, which typically feature a simple, static figurine. Morpho Pods have been designed for kids to customize, personalize and develop their own creations to bring to life. Kids can mix, match and extend the parts with over 125 possible combinations or build an entire collection of characters such as Toothless, Stormfly, Belch and Barf, Hookfang and Meatlug to embark on various adventures.

"Morpho Pods bring kids and parents new rich experiences that are fun, engaging and valuable," said Jim Mitchell, CEO of Fuhu. "For the first time, kids can play high definition video games, create their own stories, personalize their tablet experience with How To Train Your Dragon characters, all on their tablet with the Morpho Pods, while being able to customize their own dragons in real life, extending the traditional play value of NFC figurine toys."

The Morpho Pods Dragons Edition also unlocks special features in the School of Dragons® game, a science education-focused 3D massively multiplayer online role-playing game developed by JumpStart®. In this How To Train Your Dragon-inspired game, the Morpho Pods unlock dragons and special premium exclusives, including a special stable to house them. School of Dragons, preloaded on nabi DreamTab, immerses players in a vast, 3D Dragons-themed world where they can explore earth, life, and physical sciences, go on quests, train their dragons and strengthen their skills to become the ultimate dragon trainer. The game already boasts a user base of over 8 million players across multiple platforms.

Later this summer, kids can enjoy visually rich 2D and CG interactive storytelling experience that will allow kids to create all new adventures bringing to life their Morpho Pods dragons in original stories alongside Hiccup, Toothless and other beloved characters.

The Morpho Pods Dragons Edition will debut this month exclusively in Walmart locations on the heels of the theatrical release of How To Train Your Dragon 2 at a suggested retail price of $7.99 -- enabling families an affordable option to fully engage in all aspects of this holistic physical and digital online and offline play platform.
