Flextronics Selected By Aviage Systems To Manufacture Complex Avionics Products

SUZHOU, China, June 11, 2014 — (PRNewswire) —  Flextronics (NASDAQ: FLEX) today announced that it has been selected by Aviage Systems to manufacture Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA) cabinet units to support commercial aircraft programs in China. Aviage Systems is a joint venture between General Electric Company (GE) and Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC), a leading provider of avionics systems and tier-1 supplier to China's first commercial aircraft, COMAC C919.

Flextronics is providing supply chain solutions to Aviage Systems from its facility in Suzhou, China. The facility, which is AS9100C aerospace-certified, is equipped with a world-class lab and offers failure analysis, product qualification, test, and manufacturing design solutions for the aerospace industry.

The IMA Cabinet is a key subassembly that forms the core avionics system of an aircraft, interconnecting flight controls with the plane's other subsystems. This complex product requires a vast range of components such as a high precision card cage, multiple backplanes and large cable assemblies, to name a few.

"We are very pleased to partner with Aviage Systems and contribute to this prestigious project," said Dan Ostrosky, Senior Vice President of Aerospace and Defense at Flextronics.

"Flextronics strives to continually provide our customers with value-added supply chain solutions that further increases its success such as manufacturing support for the next generation of commercial aircraft programs in China," he added.

Aviage Systems selected Flextronics Suzhou based on its robust supply chain solutions and strong expertise in providing a range of high reliability, quality and technical solutions for the aerospace and defense industry.
