ECM S.A. Projetos Industriais of Brazil Wins 'Best of Show' in 14th Annual Golden Valve Awards Sponsored by Intergraph®

SNERDI and CNPCCEI of China and Brazil's Promon Engeharia receive first-place awards in Platinum Pipe competition

LAS VEGAS, June 5, 2014 — (PRNewswire) —  ECM S.A. Projetos Industriais (ECM), a Brazil-based consolidated engineering company with extensive experience in multidisciplinary industrial projects with an emphasis on the mineral sector, was presented the "Best of Show" award in the 14th annual Golden Valve Awards customer competition sponsored by Intergraph®.  ECM was honored in Las Vegas this week during HxGN LIVE, the annual user conference for Intergraph's Process, Power & Marine division and other Hexagon divisions.

The Golden Valve Awards annually recognizes the most innovative and well-executed uses of Intergraph Process, Power & Marine solutions. The competition is open to all users of Intergraph's market-leading engineering design software and the subject matter must relate to the process, power, offshore, shipbuilding or mining industries.

Intergraph solutions provided integration between disciplines on an ECM project for Vale, a Brazilian multinational diversified metals and mining corporation. Intergraph Smart™ 3D and SmartPlant® Review helped ECM's Engineering Team create an image detailing a ball mill unit on a brownfield project in Brazil. The "Best of Show" winning image depicts a building in a drop of water coming from the piping model.

Receiving honorable mentions were the ECM Engineering Team, ECM Projetos Industriais (Brazil); Sherif Mokhtar ElGanady, PGESCo (Egypt); and Jai Baghel, Technip (India).

Submissions by the 3D R&D Center of SNERDI of China, Anisio Pamplona of Brazil's Promon Engenharia, and Li Ke, SongJi Wei, Xue Feng, Fu Renchas and Wang TingTing of China's CNPCCEI took home first-place awards in the fifth annual Platinum Pipe Awards competition in the Engineering & Schematics, Smart 3D and SmartPlant Review categories, respectively.

This year marks the first time the SmartPlant Review Platinum Pipe award has been presented.

The Platinum Pipe Awards competition annually recognizes the most innovative automation ideas and implementations for Smart 3D, SmartPlant Review and SmartPlant P&ID, SmartPlant Electrical and SmartPlant Instrumentation (known as SmartPlant Engineering & Schematics).

Second place in the Engineering & Schematics category went to the ECM Engineering team of ECM SA Projetos Industriais (Brazil), while third place was Paulo Santos of QGI Brasil S.A. (Brazil).

Second place in the Smart 3D category was Chin-Young Lee of Samsung Heavy Industries (Korea), a Smart 3D user since 2004, and the entry from Darren Litherland of Agility Group (Norway) placed third.

Second place in the SmartPlant Review category went to Tetsuya Miwa of Toyo Engineering Corporation (Japan). Third place in SmartPlant Review was the 3D Automation Group of Ecovix (Brazil).
