Unravel a Mystery and Win With Pageant of the Masters' "The Art Detective"

LAGUNA BEACH, CA -- (Marketwired) -- Jun 03, 2014 -- Everyone loves a good mystery, especially in the world of art. The theme of this year's Pageant of the Masters is "The Art Detective," highlighting some of the most famous art heists in history, and revealing the mystery and intrigue created by the immense value of the world's most famous works of art.

To pay tribute to the Pageant's theme, the Festival will embark on 30-day social media sweepstake starting June 6th. Followers will have an opportunity to try their hand at being Watson and assisting Sherlock Holmes (The Art Detective) with answers to some riddles. At the end of the 30-day Festival Heist Sweepstakes one lucky winner will receive a one-of-a-kind prize -- a chance to experience the Pageant of the Masters like few others do. He or she will be granted special VIP access at the Celebrity Benefit Concert and Pageant event, August 23. The winner will receive the following (value estimated at $2,000):

  • Four Loge Center seating for the 2014 Pageant of the Masters, "The Art Detective"
  • Reserved seating for concert featuring Grammy Award Winner Al Jarreau
  • An opportunity to meet the celebrity host (last year it was Heather Locklear)
  • A chance to walk down the star-studded red carpet and be photographed
  • Dinner for four at Tivoli Terrace
  • A bottle of wine and four commemorative wine glasses

Here's how it works:
Follow The Art Detective on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter @FestivalPageant as he tries to solve famous art heists in history. Starting June 6, followers will have the chance to enter daily for 30 days by answering riddles and trivia questions related to art history and heists, and earn extra points by sharing The Art Detective's posts. Join the journey with #festivalheist.

Each post will be a fun riddle and include a picture of The Art Detective uncovering impressive historic art heists. Random posts will show The Art Detective taking in the local sights near the Festival of Arts. The last few posts will lead up to a heist on the Festival grounds, pointing to one of the Festival's presenting artists "stealing" a Vermeer painting.

The winner of the sweepstakes must be 21 or older.

On June 2, a sneak preview will post to Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, inviting followers to be among the first to enter-to-win the 30-Day Festival Heist Sweepstakes.
