GCS Expands Broadband by 40X: Offers Real Time Analytical Services

MISSOULA, Montana, 8 May 2014 - GCS, a geoanalytics firm, has installed the first commercial fiber optic broadband system in Missoula that utilizes the new gigabit Ethernet capability provided by Montana West.  With a direct pipeline to international Tier 1 Internet providers in Seattle, this new broadband capability enables GCS to offer real-time analytics on massive data sets for clients anywhere in the world.

"Milliseconds matter in real-time analytics," said GCS President Dr. Alex Philp. "GCS now provides faster analytics, processing and transfer services for extremely large Big Data sets."

The new gigabit Ethernet capability will allow for the expansion and growth of the GCS customer footprint not only regionally but internationally through extended co-location services as well as advanced big data analytics solutions. "GCS has achieved extreme broadband gigabit Ethernet capability into our offices in Missoula, which allows us to better compete nationally and internationally for cloud services and analytics," said Philp. "Working closely with Montana West, we were able to grow our broadband capability by 40-fold and reduce our costs by 35 percent." Dr. Philp will speak tonight, May 8, at Big Data Week in Missoula on the topic, "Generating Insights through Big Data Systems." His talk starts at 5:30 pm in the MonTEC facility in downtown Missoula. "Montana West is excited to have GCS as the first business in Missoula to adopt our new fiber optic gigabit Ethernet capability that we are bringing to Missoula and northwest Montana," said Montana West President Jerry Beeks. "GCS needed the high speed, low latency broadband capability that the Montana West Missoula GigaPOP Seattle connection was poised to deliver."

GCS will be utilizing its new gigabit Ethernet connection to better service its private sector clients as well as its government customers in varying areas associated with healthcare, analytics, land management services, as well as its defense/intelligence R&D customers.
