First-Ever ImmerVision Enables® 2.0 Compatibility Onboard with Texas Instruments’ DaVinci™ DM8127 video processor

LAS VEGAS — (BUSINESS WIRE) — April 2, 2014 — ImmerVision, the inventor of the 360° panomorph lens and worldwide expert in immersive optical and imaging technology, announced today that Texas Instruments’ (TI) DaVinci™ DM8127 video processor is now the first ImmerVision Enables 2.0 qualified video processor for onboard panomorph lens dewarping and remote 360° video navigation.

Camera vendors can use TI’s DM8127 video processor to quickly bring to market 360° video devices with ImmerVision Enables 2.0 functionality. This new 360° viewing standard provides compatibility between any certified devices, software and applications by enabling automatic detection of 360° viewing parameters that are embedded within the video content upon capture.

Combining the ImmerVision Enables 2.0 library with TI’s DM8127 video processor offers intuitive 360° viewing and navigation from the camera without requiring ActiveX controls or plugins. Users can also remotely navigate video using certified ImmerVision Enables 2.0 applications which eliminate configuration by recognizing embedded 360° parameters.

“TI’s DaVinci™ DM8127 video processor provides the flexibility and performance to achieve high quality perspective correction for panomorph lenses using ImmerVision technology,” said Jacob Jose, product manager, IP camera business, Texas Instruments. “This is a great addition to the leading intelligent camera portfolio on the DM8127 that includes best in class 4th generation noise filtering, local tone-mapped WDR algorithms with optional frame merging and video analytics software libraries with depth perception, enabling TI’s customers to differentiate”.

“Applications for this technology goes beyond video surveillance cameras,” said Joel Schaffer, product manager at ImmerVision. “The ImmerVision Enables 2.0 SDK and libraries for TI’s DM8127 SoC can be used for applications such as wearable cameras, car black boxes, video conferencing cameras, video door bells and such were users would benefit from seamless 360° panomorph viewing compatibility.”

The ImmerVision Enables 2.0 standard and the DaVinci™ DM8127 video processor will be displayed during ISC West at the ImmerVision Booth #24123.
