GEOINT 2013* Symposium to Feature Government Pavilion Stage

Leaders from NGA, DIA, NSA, DHS, USSOCOM, and More to Present

Herndon, Virginia (March 28, 2014) — USGIF’s GEOINT 2013* Symposiumwill feature a Government Pavilion Stagewith a line-up of speakers rivaling that of the general session keynotes. The Symposium will be held April 14-17 in Tampa, Fla. TheGovernment Pavilion Stage, sponsored by USGIF Members Accenture and DigitalGlobe, will be located at Booth 4105 of the exhibit hall, and host presentations each afternoon of the show.

“We’ve experienced an overwhelmingly positive amount of interest in this year’s Government Pavilion Stage,” said Jordan Fuhr, USGIF’s vice president of strategic communications and marketing, who chairs the Foundation’s planning committee that oversees the Symposium agenda. “The pavilion offers attendees the opportunity to hear from government personnel across the community. In many ways, the topics discussed on the Government Pavilion Stage are just as interesting and informative as the general session.”

These speakers willdiscuss critical topics and share insight as to what capabilities they seek from industry.Representatives include 10 senior leaders from the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, as well as leadership from the National Security Agency, Defense Intelligence Agency, U.S. Geological Survey, U.S. Special Operations Command, Department of Homeland Security, and other federal organizations. Topics of discussion range from “Revolutionizing the NGA Industry Relationship” to “Focusing the R&D Community on GEOINT of the Future” to “Small Business Opportunities in Defense and Intelligence.”

The heightened government participation in the GEOINT 2013* agenda comes on the heels of renewed support for science and technology symposia and conferences by the Department of Defense. Last month, Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology, and Logistics Frank Kendall released a memo encouraging the Department’s scientists and engineers to participate in events such as the GEOINT Symposium.

The Government Pavilion Stage is a rare opportunity to interact with the personnel implementing Intelligence Community programs, and USGIF hopes all registered attendees will take advantage of this portion of the Symposium agenda.
