MSC Nastran and Adams are Integral to the Design & Development Framework for Escorts Agricultural Equipment

Simulation technology helps save agricultural equipment manufacturer time and money

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — March 5, 2014MSC Software Corporation, a global leader in helping product manufacturers to advance their engineering methods with simulation software and services, today announced the adoption of MSC Nastran and Adams by Escorts Knowledge Management Center (KMC) in the design and development of Tractors for Agricultural Applications.

Escorts Limited, a pioneer in the field of tractors in India, has now set its eyes on the premium end of the tractor market. Escorts is focused on the progressive new-age Indian farmers, who are smart, educated, and have adopted farming as a business of their choice. This requires Escorts to bring new and better products to the market – faster. The R&D team at Escorts KMC has selected MSC Software’s simulation solutions to develop and deliver superior products in a dynamic market environment.

The team utilizes MSC Nastran and Adams to simulate various sub-systems such as engines and transmissions until it conforms to standards and then builds a physical prototype, thus saving costs and time in product development. In particular, MSC Nastran is being used for NVH and Durability analysis; Adams is being used for System Level Vehicle Dynamic studies.

“Virtual validation of design has become a key step in our product development process,” said Mr. Ashish Arora, Head - Engineering Service, Escorts Agri Machinery. “Use of MSC solutions has contributed to the reduction in the number of physical prototypes as well as the number of physical tests that we carry out before finalizing the design. We have been able to reduce development time and bring our new product lines to domestic and export markets significantly faster.”

"Our objective has always been to enable our customers to reduce product development costs which in turn provides value and return on investments,” said Eric Favre, Vice President - APAC, MSC Software. “It’s pleasing to know that our simulation solutions have played a crucial role in bringing out best-in-class products by Escorts. It is also the result of a good collaboration between Escorts, MSC and our reseller CSM Software that enabled the successful deployment of our solutions.”
