Palo Alto, Calif., February 24 2014 – Pole Star, the pioneer and world leader of indoor location solutions, is proud to announce that Fira Barcelona – one of Europe’s most important trade fair institution– selected its NAO Campus solution to provide real-time indoor and outdoor location servicestothe tradeshows hostedin 2014 at the Gran Via Barcelona convention center.
Pole Star’s geolocation service covers both indoor and outdoor areas and will be embedded in the mobile applications (iOS and Android) made available during the tradeshow events, through Location-Based services developed by Fira Barcelona.
These services help visitors quickly find their way, know the travel time needed to reach their selected point of interest and navigate around more than 2.6 million square feet of exhibit space.
For the successful on-site deployment in Barcelona, Pole Star teamed up with local partner and mobility specialist Air-Fi. Pole Star geolocation technologies are on display at the company’s booth in Hall 8.1 – Stand 8.1D41 (App Planet Hall).

NAO Campus®usesa combination of different wireless technologies to determine avisitor’s exact location, including Wi-Fi signals, Bluetooth Low Energy 4.0 beacons, GPS (for seamless indoor/outdoor transitions), in addition to the smartphone’s movement sensors.
A hybrid approach that significantly lowers the cost of deployment –drastically reducing the required network infrastructure - while achieving stellar performance.
While inside the Gran Via Barcelona convention center, visitors will be automatically guided to their destination, based on their areas of interests, exhibitors, conference sessions, transport etc. … The indoor location engine will suggest on the interactive map several itineraries and their travel times.
The app will also provide a seamless indoor/outdoor transition, guiding visitors to the closest public transport option, with an estimate of the waiting times.
