Kilopass XPM Non Volatile Memory IP Validated on IBM 45nm SOI Process Successfully Passing JEDEC 47 Testing to Assure 10-Year Operating Life

Kilopass XPM NVM IP on IBM 45nm SOI Process Enables Successfully Completed DOD, DOE Contracts with Multiple Designs

Santa Clara, Calif., December 5, 2013 – Kilopass Technology Inc., a leading provider of semiconductor logic non-volatile memory (NVM) intellectual property (IP), today announced that its anti-fuse XPM (eXtra Permanent Memory) NVM IP has been validated “Ready for IBM Technology” in the IBM 45nm SOI (Silicon on Insulator) process. By successfully completing JEDEC 47 standard qualification on the IBM 45nm SOI process with no failures, Kilopass XPM NVM IP assures system on chip (SoC) designers of at least 10 years of operating life. The XPM NVM IP has already achieved DOD and DOE contracts with multiple designs at the IBM 45nm SOI node.

The Ready-for-IBM-Technology ecosystem provides solutions that enable original equipment manufacturer (OEM) customers to speed time to market, reduce development risk and cost, and improve return on investment. Kilopass is part of the solutions ecosystem of enabled and validated solutions IBM offers for OEM customers. The Ready-for-IBM-Technology Mark identifies IP, design and manufacturing solutions that have been tested and validated for compatibility with IBM Foundry technologies.

“We are thrilled to have our embedded anti-fuse-based XPM NVM IP family available in the Ready-for-IBM-Technology ecosystem of third party IP at the 45nm SOI process node,” said Linh Hong, Kilopass vice president of marketing and business development. The benefit of our anti-fuse technology is its ability to be implemented in any logic process, including silicon on insulator with no additional process steps. Offering our XPM NMV IP’s security, reliability, and storage density on 45nm SOI has attracted DOD and DOE customer contracts targeting multiple designs for the IP.”

The XPM NVM IP family provides up to 1Mb of storage capacity for portable device SoCs that need the lower power consumption, smaller die area, and higher performance the IBM 45nm SOI process provides. Kilopass’ anti-fuse non-volatile memory serves many of these applications, including SoCs for wireless baseband, CMOS image sensors and capacitive touchscreens. Because the Kilopass anti-fuse XPM is built on the standard components found in the foundry Process Design Kit (PDK) porting was achieved as easily as for any logic CMOS process.

About XPM NVM Memory
Kilopass Technology’s XPM is a one-time programmable NVM that uses anti-fuse technology and can be fabricated on any standard, commercially available CMOS logic process. The XPM technology is based on a 2T memory cell that has been proven by over 150 customers, with more than 2 billion units shipped in over 300 industrial, automotive, consumer electronics, mobile and analog and mixed signal chip designs. XPM NVM IP provides unprecedented physical security, making it well suited for encryption key and secure code storage applications. The XPM family’s configuration options include density, read voltage, program/read bus width, and charge pump. It has been proven in both commercial and Department of Defense (DoD) applications.
