Latest from MapMechanics in map data, geographic analysis and routing optimisation

Data and software to be showcased in November at Technology Forum in London

7 November 2013 ---- People involved in digital mapping, geographic analysis and logistics planning and optimisation have an ideal opportunity on 21 November 2013 to catch up on the latest developments in the field.

MapMechanics, one of the longest-established UK leaders in all these markets, is holding a Technology Forum in the City of London, where guests will hear about all these developments and see many for themselves learning about practical applications of mapping and optimisation software and data that can be applied in their own organisations, and discovering how this can save them money and streamline their activities.

The occasion marks the re-launch of MapMechanics long-standing Data Catalogue, which during the last decade became a landmark publication in the world of digital mapping and geographic information systems. The event also provides a showcase for recent versions of key software applications including the TruckStops 20 routing and scheduling solution, the Geoconcept geographic information system, and the GeoXploit suite of GIS software and data.

The Data Catalogue is the largest map data catalogue of its kind, providing data and descriptive information about hundreds of map data sets and geographic and geodemographic products, all of which are available from MapMechanics.

The brand new full-colour A4 edition, redesigned and updated for 2014 and due for release early in the new year, will return with the familiar format, providing clear illustrated information on digital mapping, geodemographic data and business data, along with invaluable commentary on key concepts of digital mapping such as the differences between vector and raster mapping; explanations of UK Census and postcode geography; and advice on how geodemographic data can help users in their business.

The Data Catalogue mirrors  allmapdata.com, MapMechanics popular transactional web site, where the same products can be bought online.

The Technology Forum also provides a showcase for MapMechanics TruckStops 20, the fully-rewritten version of one of the world s longest-established vehicle routing and scheduling optimisation solutions, which is suitable for both dynamic day-to-day scheduling of vehicles and people, and longer-term strategic scheduling.

Visitors will be able to see TruckStops 20 s enhanced user interface (based on recent versions of Microsoft Windows and Office), its improved screen layout, which allows columns and parameters to be moved or hidden, and the improved links to other software such as vehicle tracking systems.

Other software on show by MapMechanics will include the latest versions of the geographic information systems Geoconcept and GeoXploit, showcasing features such as 4D and 3D analysis, touchscreen functionality and a range of different reporting options.

Visitors will also learn about the latest in territory management solutions, and how they can reduce costs and help users to adapt to changing variables such as new staff or a changing customer base.

MapMechanics last year celebrated 25 years in the world of map data and software for geographic analysis and optimisation. The company is a software developer in its own right, and often configures its own and third-party data products precisely to suit users own software and operating requirements. Many of these services are wrapped up in MapMechanics Process Promise scheme, which ensures that data is correctly formatted and ready to use, straight out of the box.

MapMechanics Technology Forum runs from 10am to 3pm on 21 November 2013 at the London Chamber of Commerce in Central London. Anyone interested in attending can telephone +44 (0)20 8568 7000 or email MapMechanics on Email Contact
