Chris Ogier Selected to Fill Vacancy on MAPPS Board of Directors

October 25, 2013 -- MAPPS ( www.mapps.org), the national association of private sector geospatial firms, has announced the selection of Chris Ogier of Woolpert, Inc. (Dayton, OH) to the position of director on the MAPPS Board of Directors. 

Mr. Ogier was elected unanimously by the MAPPS Board to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Eric Andelin, CP, GISP, from Surveying and Mapping (SAM), Inc., Austin, TX. 

Mr. Ogier has served as a member of MAPPS Legislative Affairs Committee, which advises the MAPPS Board on legislation and public policy issues affecting the profession. He also was instrumental in establishing the Georgia chapter of MAPPS (GA-MAPPS) and has served as the chapter's Vice President. He has also been an active volunteer on a number of committees and as a speaker and participant at MAPPS conferences. Ogier was a recipient of a 2012 MAPPS Presidential Award in recognition of his leadership in the formation of the Georgia chapter. He has served as a private sector representative on the State of Georgia Geographic Information System (GIS) Coordinating Committee. 

"Chris has been an active volunteer in MAPPS providing much time and effort in supporting the MAPPS legislative agenda and technical programs," said MAPPS President Jeff Lower, (Magnolia River, Huntsville, AL). "His commitment in MAPPS and the support of his firm were positive attributes that led to his selection." 


Mr. Ogier serves as practice leader for Federal civilian markets for Woolpert and works out of the firm's Atlanta, GA office. He earned a bachelor degree in Geography at Appalachian State University. Over his career he has become an expert in business process analysis and Federal markets. 

Pursuant to the MAPPS bylaws, Mr. Ogier was selected by the other members of the MAPPS Board to serve as a director until the next business meeting and regular election of the association, to be held at the MAPPS Summer Conference in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, July 27-31, 2014.
