MIPI® Alliance Announces Award Recipients at 10 Year Anniversary Celebration

Companies and individuals honored at inaugural awards program

PISCATAWAY, N.J. & TORONTO — (BUSINESS WIRE) — October 10, 2013MIPI® Alliance, an international organization that develops interface specifications for mobile and mobile-influenced industries, is proud to announce the 2013 MIPI® Alliance Membership Award winners. The recipients were recognized at the 10 Year Anniversary Celebration at the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto, Canada.

The MIPI Alliance Membership Awards Program is an annual awards program that recognizes outstanding contributions and achievements by individual and corporate members. Nominations are submitted by MIPI Alliance members. Winners were chosen by the Awards and Recognition Committee, which is comprised of six members appointed by the board of directors.

The MIPI Alliance Lifetime Achievement Award is presented to an individual having more than a seven year commitment to the MIPI Alliance and who has provided significant contributions or leadership to a Working Group, the Board, or other MIPI area. The 2013 recipient is Joel Huloux of STMicroelectronics who is currently serving as Chairman of the Board of Directors.

“Joel’s significant commitment, insight and exceptional effort, have enabled the MIPI Alliance to have continued success and innovation in the mobile and mobile-influenced space,” continued Lefkin. “His vision, enthusiasm and drive are an inspiration to everyone who has participated with the Alliance over the past decade. This award honors and thanks Joel for his tireless efforts.”

This year’s Corporate Award was presented to Nokia Corporation for its extended leadership within a working group and exemplary drive to bring members together to develop and publish a MIPI Alliance Specification.

The MIPI Alliance Working Group Leadership Award is presented to a working group leader (chair, vice or co-chairs) or technical editor(s) in recognition of their significant contribution to the development and publication of a MIPI specification. This year the organization honored two such individuals. Ken Drottar from Intel serves as the chair of the PHY group and Juha Pennanen from Texas Instruments serves as chair of the ACI group; both are recognized for their noteworthy leadership in developing and publishing MIPI Alliance specifications.

The Distinguished Service Award is given to an individual(s) that make important contributions to the MIPI Alliance specification development process or contributions by serving on the Board of Directors, a working group, or helping in the areas of marketing and testing. Jori Arrakoski of Nokia and Raj Kumar Nagpal of STMicroelectronics each received this prestigious honor.

The MIPI Alliance Achievement Award is presented to MIPI members and team members in recognition of their outstanding contribution to the Alliance. This year’s honorees are Rob Anhofer, MIPI Alliance Operations Director, and Jim Rippie, MIPI Alliance Senior Program Manager, for their numerous contributions.
