Video Reminder: "EDA: Back to the Future" Reunion Dinner and Auction Event on Oct. 16 Celebrates 50+ Years of EDA

Entertainer and mentalist Ken Newman shares a preview of EDA: Back to the Future and reads your mind in the process!

SAN JOSE, CA -- Oct. 7, 2013 -- To celebrate the past 50+ years of the Electronic Design Automation (EDA) industry, the EDA Consortium (EDAC) is hosting "EDA: Back to the Future," an industry reunion featuring dinner, entertainment, and a fundraising auction on October 16th at the Computer History Museum (CHM) in Mountain View, California. The event will raise funds to complete the EDA Oral Histories Collections and Exhibit. Currently under development, this exhibit will be a permanent addition to the CHM rotating series of exhibits and will document the history of the EDA industry. This special black-tie optional evening will begin with a private opening of the CHM "Revolution" exhibit for guests followed by a reception, dinner, and a live auction in the CHM Grand Hall.

"The EDA industry began an unprecedented period of electronics innovation over 50 years ago. This sure-to-be-unforgettable party will gather members of our industry, past and present, to recognize and celebrate the significance of this achievement," said Kathryn Kranen, EDAC chairman of the board and president and CEO of Jasper Design Automation.

The EDA Oral Histories Collection and Exhibit at the CHM includes an oral history archive with transcripts, featuring interviews with key pioneers and contributors to EDA. These oral histories will be hosted online permanently as part of the CHM's Oral Histories Collection. In addition to oral histories, the CHM is very interested in acquiring significant hardware memorabilia from the EDA industry. Anyone arranging the donation of original workstations from EDA pioneers will qualify for free admission to the event.

"By raising funds to support the permanent EDA Oral Histories Collection and Exhibit at the CHM, we'll preserve the thoughts and stories of our predecessors while inspiring future generations of EDA innovators," said Doug Fairbairn, staff director at the CHM and long-time EDA industry veteran.

EDAC members and other past and present companies and academia involved in EDA are invited to sponsor the event and to donate items for auction.

To donate an auction lot or make a direct donation to fund the EDA Oral Histories Collection and Exhibit please contact bttf.event@edac.org.
