Themis Announces RES-XR4 Servers with Intel E5-2600 v2 Processors

New processors enable 50% increase in server computing density

FREMONT, Calif. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — September 11, 2013 — Themis Computer® today announced that Intel® E5-2600 v2 processors are now available in RES-XR4 Rack Mountable Servers. RES-XR4 servers combine the rugged design of the RES rack mountable server family and the latest E5 Intel Xeon® processors with up to 24 cores and 768 GB DDR3 ECC per server.

E5-2600 v2 processors enable a 50% increase in Themis RES server computing density. Measuring computing density by cores/volume or cores/kg, Themis RES servers are typically 30% smaller in volume and half the weight of commercial servers. The new E5-2600 V2 ten and twelve core processors are socket compatible with the complete RES-XR4 family of servers. RES-XR4 servers that were previously available with eight core processors are now available with twelve core processors, providing a 50% increase in cores/volume and cores/kg.

Themis RES-XR4 servers feature expansion slots, extensive high-speed I/O, and multiple storage options that provide users with configuration versatility and system expansion to meet current and future system requirements. Themis RES systems incorporate advanced thermal and mechanical design features that include dual, redundant, hot swappable AC and DC power supply options. The RES chassis design incorporates aluminum die cast front and rear panels, and strong, lightweight aluminum that improves system resistance to corrosion. Themis RES servers are an attractive solution for programs where Size, Weight, and Power (SWAP) are essential considerations.

The Intel Xeon processor E5 family addresses the proliferating growth of connected users, devices, and data traffic in the cloud with record-breaking performance, exceptional energy efficiency, breakthrough I/O innovation, and built-in security features.

“Themis works closely with partners and customers to design and build innovative computing solutions that ensure high performance and reliability in hostile environments,” said William Kehret, CEO of Themis Computer. “We continue to experience broad market acceptance for our Rack Mountable Servers. These cloud-ready RES-XR4 rack mountable servers provide industry leading compute density and superior scalability, and we expect to see them deployed in a wide range of demanding environments”, Mr. Kehret added.
