AEM Wants Assurances That Their GIS Data Licenses are Being Fully Enforced

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas, Aug. 26, 2013 — (PRNewswire) — AEM has sued Hart Energy for Fraud, Breach of Contract, and Interference of Contracts. (Montgomery County, TX 410 District Court Case No. 13-05-04872) The suit alleges that, based on Hart Energy's written communications, Hart Energy obtained information from AEM through nefarious means and, in violation of AEM's license agreement, disbursed said information to Hart's current and proposed customers.  "I do not believe that the customers in question are a voluntary participant in these wrongful activities," said Damien Wolff, Owner of AEM, "and as such I am willing to not pursue license violation remedies for those companies who come forward if they were unknowingly involved by Hart Energy and are willing to resolve the matter directly."

"Since I do not possess the actual customer list of Hart Energy I decided that reaching out in this way was appropriate and necessary," says Mr. Wolff.  AEM's GIS Data license prevents the sharing of information with other vendors or companies not licensed by AEM.  "While the data in question is certainly public in nature, AEM performs the valuable service of gathering such information for inexpensive disbursement through license agreements and simply needs to make sure we are receiving payment for our services," said Mr. Wolff.

"Our investigation concerning this matter has supported my belief that AEM's data licenses are being circumvented, "said Mr. Wolff, "and this activity needs to stop immediately.  My offer of "amnesty" expires on September 15, 2013."
