ROCKFORD, Ill., August 15, 2013 – Shell Lubricants has joined Manufacturing Day 2013 as a Gold Sponsor, supplying the national initiative with resources to support manufacturers participating in the program, a grassroots effort by U.S. manufacturers to improve public perception of manufacturing in America by coordinating awareness-raising activities at a variety of locations across the country on October 4, 2013.
“We are delighted that Shell has placed their support firmly behind the Manufacturing Day initiative with their Gold sponsorship,” said Ed Youdell, President and CEO of the Fabricators & Manufacturers Association, International. “Their creativity and commitment to the program will help to raise awareness with both the hundreds of host companies and the thousands of visitors to Manufacturing Day events.” Manufacturing Day is an annual national event that brings together hundreds of manufacturers to host students, teachers, parents, job seekers and other local community members at open houses designed to showcase modern manufacturing technology and careers. A panel of co-producers comprised of the Fabricators & Manufacturers Association, International (FMA), the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), the Manufacturing Institute (MI), the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s (NIST) Hollings Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP), and Industrial Strength Marketing (ISM) provides the centralized support necessary to coordinate this nationwide array of simultaneous events. “All of us that work at Shell are in a unique position, not only are we involved in the manufacturing industry through the supply of world-class lubricants, but we are also a manufacturing company,” said Jacqueline Gates, Industrial Marketing Manager at Shell. “Being involved in such a momentous occasion for the manufacturing industry is something we are all incredibly proud of and we look forward to October when the industry as a whole will have the spotlight for one full day.” To learn more about Manufacturing Day, visit
