ArcGIS Platform Powers the Connected Nation Exchange Online Broadband Marketplace

Interactive, Data-Rich Map to Be Presented at Esri UC

Redlands, California—July 5, 2013—Attendees at the Esri International User Conference ( Esri UC) will get a personal introduction to the online broadband marketplace known as Connected Nation Exchange ( CNX). Connected Nation Exchange, a spinoff company of national nonprofit Connected Nation, used ArcGIS technology from Esri to create an interactive map of broadband assets, service availability and demand, and networks under construction.

CNX has mapped the broadband networks of more than 2,500 broadband service providers including cooperatives, cable companies, telcos, wireless Internet providers, and community anchor institutions (schools, libraries, hospitals, etc.). The CNX broadband asset map allows public and private owners of rooftops, steeples, real estate, towers, utility poles, dark fiber, and rights-of-way to represent those assets and relevant attributes on an interactive and searchable map.

Demand for always-on, high-speed network access is growing at an unprecedented pace in the public and private sectors alike," says Brian R. Mefford, chief executive officer of CNX and founder of Connected Nation. "The market needs new ways to bring together those who own a wide array of assets that can support the expansion of broadband services."

Connected Nation will present CNX in its session, "Asset Mapping in Support of Broadband Expansion," on Tuesday, July 9, 2013, at 10:15 a.m. at the San Diego Marriott Marquis & Marina, Marina—Salon E. Visit  esri.com/telco.
